Nutrition

Adequate nutrition is vital in sustaining well producing trees. As trees grow, energy and nutrients used by the tree for growth and fruit production need to be replaced through the soil. Good fertiliser programmes consider three crops; the crop that is hanging on the tree, the crop that is about to set and the flush that pushes through that will be the flowering wood for the following crop. It is equally important to fertilise sufficiently during a low season as a heavy season as this will help better resource the tree as it prepares to set the next crop.
