Avocado Drone Application Network (ADAN)

Drone use in avocado orchards is a new and exciting area, generating plenty of interest—but there’s still a lot to learn. To support this, the Avocado Drone Application Network (ADAN) has been set up to connect curious growers and drone operators.

NZ Avocado is working with specialist consultant David Manktelow to explore how drone technology can be effectively integrated into avocado growing practices.

Everyone is welcome to be part of the conversation. By joining the network, you’ll receive updates, be invited to regular catch-ups and webinars, and have the chance to help shape the future of drone use in our industry. Your insights and input are essential as we work together to make well-informed decisions and build practical strategies for the sector.

The ‘million dollar’ questions:

  1. Can aerial spray application allow us to halve chemical application rates while improving pest and disease control outcomes?
  2. Is drone spraying cost-effective when considering work rates?
  3. What legislative and physical restrictions exist?
  4. What does practical implementation look like?

If you have any questions please contact Glenys: Glenys.Parton@nzavocado.co.nz or David: David@appliedresearch.nz
