Planning for the World Avocado Congress 2027 is now underway. The congress will be hosted and organised by the South African Avocado Growers’ Association (SAAGA), the country’s national grower organisation. The programme will feature scientific, technical, and commercial sessions, alongside technical tours that include visits to commercial avocado nurseries, orchards, and packhouses—offering attendees valuable practical insights into industry best practices.

To help growers make the most of the long-haul journey, NZ Avocado has worked with a travel agent to develop a bespoke group travel experience. The comprehensive itinerary includes a Singapore stopover with market visits, a safari through Chobe, Hwange, and Victoria Falls, and five nights in Cape Town for the Congress.
A WAC lite option is also being offered for those who prefer to focus on the Congress component, skip the safari, or wish to build-in independent travel after the event. Both options are designed to give participants the benefit of travelling with a New Zealand industry group.
The NZ Avocado mailing list will circulate practical travel advice covering visas, vaccinations, and what to expect on the ground in South Africa, along with coordinated options for group hotel bookings and flights. Beyond the official congress programme, we are also exploring a range of group activities—from sightseeing and cultural experiences to informal networking opportunities—so the trip offers both professional value and a chance to connect with fellow growers.
