Whangarei Field Day

We will be running a “back to basics” session for anyone wanting to recap some of the basic information about the parts of the tree, flowers and growth habit. Questions will be welcomed and the team will do their best to answer fundamental questions of growing avocados.
The main field day will start at 10.00am. NZ Avocado CEO, Jen Scoular will provide an industry update. The research team will lead a discussion on flowering, flower pruning and fruit set where we can have a look at some trees that were flower pruned the previous year.
Fruit staining is an issue for many growers in the Mid North region so an update will be given on what is known about the issue and what activity is currently underway to better understand it.
