Soil moisture & irrigation management webinar

Free

NZ Avocado will host a soil moisture/irrigation management webinar on Thursday 28th October running from 10:00am – 11:00am.

Topics covered will help growers understand how their soil influences their soil moisture management, provide practical steps to work out a soil moisture balance and answer such questions as; how do I know how much moisture my soil can hold, how do I measure moisture in, in the form of rain and irrigation, and how do I measure moisture out, when should I irrigate and how long for?

The webinar will include:

  • Influence of soil type on moisture retention and availability to the tree.
  • How to identify your soil type.
  • How to work out how many mm of rain equivalent your irrigation system is delivering and why this is important.
  • What influences tree water use.
  • Considerations when looking at soil moisture monitoring equipment.

We will also provide links to useful resources on the NZ Avocado website. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions via the chat function.

This event will be held online via Zoom. A link will be sent to all registered attendees ahead of the event.
