Field day: Far North, 11 June 2024

FREE

NZ Avocado invites you to join us on Mervyn Evan’s orchard to discuss shelter as it relates to packout, recent drainage improvements and general orchard management to maximise efficiency and orchard returns. Tuesday, 11 June 2024 from 1.00pm – 3.00pm at 129 Burnage Road, Pukenui.

Export packout has a key influence on orchard returns. Shelter and canopy management have a major influence on packout and the Burnage Road Orchard has both artificial and pine shelters for comparison and discussion.

Burnage Road Orchard is a young orchard with Mervyn implementing different thinking between two distinct phases of the orchard development. Hear his experiences and join the discussion on how we can improve efficiency on orchard to improve grower returns. John Emmett and Michael French will also be present to share their thoughts on the orchards development.

Tree health is the current focus on the property with additional groundwork having recently been carried out to reduce ponding.
