Field day: Far North – Awanui, 28 September 2022

NZ Avocado invites you to join us for a field day on Wednesday 28 September 2022 from 1.00pm – 3.00pm at Ian Fulton and Ivan Stanisich orchard, 13 Heath Rd, Awanui.

Ian and Ivan have a lot of growing experience between them and have been developing a new orchard together on Heath Rd. Come along to hear how things are progressing and how they used ProGibb to prevent flowering in the new trees to reduce stress and support establishment. The field day will include an orchard walk where growers can ask questions and discuss technical information relevant to this time of year.

Field day topics will include

• The financial benefit of crop load management to improve consistency of production and fruit size.
• Influence of soil moisture on fruit size with importance of early fruit development.
• Results from year 3 of the Avovantage project looking at the influence of on-orchard factors on fruit rots.
• Attending growers will be encouraged to share their own experiences of crop load management and beneficial spring orchard management practices.
