Management of fungal disease with Dr Liz Dann – Whangarei, 26th November, 2019

NZ Avocado invites you to an information evening with Associate Professor Dr Elizabeth Dann, Australian plant pathologist from The University of Queensland, and Mark Braithwaite, Plant Diagnostician and Researcher, Plant Diagnostics Ltd.

This meeting is to provide an opportunity to share and discuss:

  • Liz Dann’s experience with management practices for fungal disease control on orchard in Australia and the importance of integrated Phytophthora management, in particular the use of phosphonate.
  • An update by Mark Braithwaite, Plant Diagnostics Ltd about the work he has been doing for NZ Avocado identifying the causal agent of fruit staining.

Dr Elizabeth (Liz) Dann is a plant pathologist based at the University of Queensland. Her research aims to increase the productivity and quality of tropical and sub-tropical crops through improved management of diseases. Dr Dann has broad expertise in the discipline of plant pathology. Her research is very focused on delivering improved quality and productivity to horticultural industries through optimised disease management.

Mark Braithwaite jointly owns and runs Plant Diagnostics Limited, a commercial business focusing on plant disease diagnostic services, disease management advice, crop disease assessments, and contract research projects including fungicide and biocontrol efficacy testing, and fungicide resistance testing.
