Field day: Te Puke orchard, 6 March 2020

Free

NZ Avocado invites you to join us at Kakariki Orchard in Te Puke for an autumn field day.

An industry update will be provided followed by an orchard walk to ask questions of the NZ Avocado team and discuss technical information relevant to this time of year. Topics will focus on enhancing tree health including the benefits of pruning and ways of limiting phytophthora damage.

Plant and Food Research Scientist, Dr Philip Elmer will also give a presentation on the SFF Avovantage trial. Dr Elmer is lead scientist for the trial which began in July 2019 with an aim to reduce the percentage of unsound fruit as well as further develop best practice guidelines for the management of fruit rots on orchard. For more information on the trial, please click here.

Drinks and snacks will be provided towards the end of the field day to provide an opportunity to talk with other growers and continue discussions with the NZ Avocado team.
