SUMMARY:Field day: Far North\, 11 June 2024
DESCRIPTION:NZ Avocado invites you to join us on Mervyn Evan’s orchard to discuss shelter as it relates to packout\, recent drainage improvements and general orchard management to maximise efficiency and orchard returns. Tuesday\, 11 June 2024 from 1.00pm – 3.00pm at 129 Burnage Road\, Pukenui. \nExport packout has a key influence on orchard returns. Shelter and canopy management have a major influence on packout and the Burnage Road Orchard has both artificial and pine shelters for comparison and discussion. \nBurnage Road Orchard is a young orchard with Mervyn implementing different thinking between two distinct phases of the orchard development. Hear his experiences and join the discussion on how we can improve efficiency on orchard to improve grower returns. John Emmett and Michael French will also be present to share their thoughts on the orchards development. \nTree health is the current focus on the property with additional groundwork having recently been carried out to reduce ponding. \nRegister below for the Far North field day: Far North\, 11 June 2024\n\n \n Name* PPIN (if applicable) Email*\n \n Have your contact details changed?\n \n Yes\, NZ Avocado will update your records.\n PhonePostal address \n \n \n \n Street Address\n \n \n Address Line 2\n \n \n City\n \n \n State / Province / Region\n \n \n ZIP / Postal Code\n \n \n CAPTCHA

SUMMARY:Field day: Mid North\, 12 June 2024
DESCRIPTION:NZ Avocado invites you to join us on Deon Cartwright’s orchard to discuss how we can prune trees and shelter to maximise packouts and improve orchard efficiency.  We’ll also revisit the ground cover planting discussed at the previous field day in September 2023 to see if it helped with weed control and any other pros and cons in the first summer. Wednesday\, 12 June 2024 from 10.00am – 12.00pm at 427 Mangakahia Road\, Whangarei. \nWhen we last visited the orchard\, Deon had recently started a trial where different ground cover species were planted to help suppress weeds\, reduce mowing and provide additional benefits. Learnings from the first Summer will be shared. \nExport packout is a key influence on orchard returns. Shelter and canopy management have a major influence on packout and will be discussed at the field day. \nWe hope to have a collective discussion on how growers are changing or modifying their orchard management to reduce costs and improve efficiencies on orchard. \nRegister below for the Mid North field day: Whangarei\, 12 June 2024\n\n \n Name* PPIN (if applicable) Email*\n \n Have your contact details changed?\n \n Yes\, NZ Avocado will update your records.\n PhonePostal address \n \n \n \n Street Address\n \n \n Address Line 2\n \n \n City\n \n \n State / Province / Region\n \n \n ZIP / Postal Code\n \n \n CAPTCHA

SUMMARY:Field day: Katikati\, 19 June 2024
DESCRIPTION:NZ Avocado invites you to join us on Maria and Andrew Watchorn’s orchard to discuss how we can prune trees and shelter to maximise packouts and improve orchard efficiency.  Wednesday\, 19 June 2024 from 10.00am – 12.00pm at 121 Walker Rd East\, Katikati. \nAndrew and Maria’s orchard (along with others on Walker Rd East) benefit from substantial North Western shelter trees. Come along to discuss the pros and cons of shelter and how it can improve your orchard resilience and packouts. \nPruning has been recently carried out on the property with some changes to tree spacing in some areas and mulching practices to be more efficient. \nWe hope to have a collective discussion on how growers are changing or modifying their orchard management to reduce costs and improve efficiencies on orchard. \nRegister below for the Bay of Plenty field day: Katikati\, 19 June 2024\n\n \n Name* PPIN (if applicable) Email*\n \n Have your contact details changed?\n \n Yes\, NZ Avocado will update your records.\n PhonePostal address \n \n \n \n Street Address\n \n \n Address Line 2\n \n \n City\n \n \n State / Province / Region\n \n \n ZIP / Postal Code\n \n \n CAPTCHA
