DESCRIPTION:NZ Avocado invites you to join us on Deon Cartwright’s orchard to discuss how we can prune trees and shelter to maximise packouts and improve orchard efficiency.  We’ll also revisit the ground cover planting discussed at the previous field day in September 2023 to see if it helped with weed control and any other pros and cons in the first summer. Wednesday\, 12 June 2024 from 10.00am – 12.00pm at 427 Mangakahia Road\, Whangarei. \nWhen we last visited the orchard\, Deon had recently started a trial where different ground cover species were planted to help suppress weeds\, reduce mowing and provide additional benefits. Learnings from the first Summer will be shared. \nExport packout is a key influence on orchard returns.
